Privacy Issues, EU “Cookie”-Directive 2009/136/EG

The <proggies2go>™ web site does not require the user to surrender personally identifiable information. Browser cookies are also not used. Purely statistical data, i.e. operating system, web browser, IP address and referrer URL are time-stamped, collected, and stored for a brief period of time. However, this statistical information is fully anonymized and no connection to you as a natural person exists. The purpose of such storage is, to achieve a higher degree of server security (i.e. to curb copyright violations), and the improvement of my web service in general. This so-called “logging” is general practice on every web server worldwide.

My applets for the Adobe® Flash player store certain program settings in a so-called SharedObject. The storage process is performed locally, i.e. on the user's machine only. Settings data contains no personally identifiable information, and there is no transfer of said data to the <proggies2go>™ web server. Owing to the design of the Flash plugin, the user's permission to store such settings is implicit by default, but may be revoked (and the settings data deleted) at any time by changing overriding settings in the Flash plugin proper.

The use of the author's published contact information for the purpose of sending unsolicited advertisements is explicitly prohibited! “E-mail spam” and “junk faxes” are not welcome here and will be met with immediate retaliatory legal measures to the fullest extent possible under the law. <TOP>
